First World Problems

1. Uhhh, I only have sixty dollars to spend on clothes and I can't decide what to get...
2. (while searching through a walk-in closet full of clothes).... I have nothing to wear....
3. Wait, soup for dinner again? But we had soup last week......
4. The store is out of my favorite brand of mascara...

Haha I say things like this hundreds of times a day. Ironic right? First world problems....literally the story of my life.

A Story about my studying

Let me tell you a story about my study habits.

For the first 4 or 5 hours I am a good college student and I study pretty good...

Then I get bored and start zoning out...

Then I get a little slap happy......

Then the tiredness hits and I want to cry....

Then weird things start happening....

Yep this about sums up the next week of my life.

We need to paint with all the colors of the wind

I remember watching Pocahontas as a little girl and loving the scene where she sings about painting with the colors of the wind. I remember all the colors that swirled around her and I just wished I could sing like that and that colors would swirl around me. Well guess what, wish 129 has come true. Would you like to see what a modern day Pocahontas looks like?
Didn't expect that did you? Well a couple weeks ago there was the annual event called Festival of colors. It is a Hindu celebration that takes place at the Hindu temple that is located right out side of Provo. Well the roomies and I had never been so we thought it was time to make the trek down...and man am i so glad we did! It was so fun. Basically what you do is you show up in white, buy this super finely ground up chalk powder, stand in a crowd of almost 2,000 people and then when the announcer says it is time you throw the chalk everywhere. Let me tell you, when that chalk is thrown it is insane. You can't see, you can't breathe, and as unappealing as that sounds it is actually really cool.

Before the throwing (don't be confused by our shirts, we were not spelling anything !)....

And after....

Crazy right?! Let me tell you getting that chalk out of my hair and skin was a pain, but oh so worth it. Also it was just really fun being apart of another religions traditions. While I do have my own religious views I think that if everyone took just a little time out of their life to explore other people beliefs then we would live in a much more tolerant world.
Festival of colors is to celebrate the arrival of spring and I can not think of a better way to usher in spring than to have a wonderful day with friends full of laughter and chalk. = )

Movie Madness

I love movies. In fact, I vicariously live my life through movies. So last night when I was supposed to be writing my paper on the Bioethics of genetically modified food (intense right?) I got distracted by the movie “Glory Road”. Wow, what an inspiring movie.  The trials that this basketball team went through were amazing, and they yet they still managed to win the national championship. Now I am determined to do something awe-inspiring enough in my life to warrant the making of a movie. First female president? First quadruple noble prize winner? Ok I will work on that. Moral of the story is to watch “Glory road” because its story has great morals! (punny right?)

Dessert Party!

This weekend was great! Between spending time with my family in Brigham City, watching General Conference, and not doing ANY homework, I'd say it was near perfect. BUT, to add to the enjoyment my beautiful cousins and I threw a dessert party for all our friends. We cooked all day ( I really do mean all day) and we made eight different types of desserts. Truth: I get really nervous when hosting parties I always wonder will no one come and I will have TONS of extra food? Will everyone come and I will not have ENOUGH food? Will people show up and have no fun? Well guess what, as far as I am concerned it went perfectly. All my good friends came, they ate lots of good food, and by the time everyone left there was just a very little amount of food left (mostly the cookies I burned...whoops!).
Here is what it looked like!

                                                       I love frosting cupcakes!

The entire table!

The cookies I burnt....they look okay but were hard as rocks!

Good friends and family can make all the difference between a mediocre weekend and a great one!!
