Choc Choc Choc Chocolate

Would you like to see a picture of the best chocolate cake ever?
Sundays are kind of my apartments cooking day. I am not going to lie, good food is produced at our apartment on Sunday's. Normally I just mooch on my roommates delicious cooking skills, but this week I pulled my own weight!

It is triple chocolate cake, and is probably the most moist cake you will ever taste. I can brag and say that because I stole the recipe from my mom so I am not bragging about myself. = )The secret ingredients.....pudding, chocolate chips, fudge, and....sour cream. Yep that's right sour cream is the deal breaker here and boy does it make all the difference!!

P.S. Guess where I am...yep that is right...still at the good old Library, whom I have lovingly named Harold.

1. Listening to my favorite songs on repeat over and over again (currently He is We’s Happily Ever After is my go to song!)
2. Being in love with the Hunger Games (books and movie)
3. Getting VERY into EVERY political conversation that I have
4. Biting my nails (althought I really should stop)
5. Feeling the need to share every cool biological fact or study that I learn in class with you
6. Loving Chicago more than any other city and endlessly talking about all the amazing things that it has there!

Outfit Lovin

Sometimes I run out of new ideas for things to wear. I get bored with the same old same old of my closet. So instead of breaking the bank, I turn to other peoples outfits to see if I can recreate their looks with my own clothes.

Here is a lovely blogger named Rachel Sayumi.

Cute right?! Well here is my take on her outfit!
Fun right? Give it a try, it spices up life a little!

Quote Inspiration

Have I told you yet about my quote obsession? Well if not then let me cue you in. I love finding quotes. Sometimes they make me smile, sometimes they make me laugh, sometimes they reflect my life, and sometimes it is just something I needed to hear. But most of all, they inspire me.
Being in college sometimes it is really easy to justify putting off homework for social activities (ironic that I am blogging while I am saying this?). But, then when a test grade comes back and I didn't get what I wanted, it is easy to feel disappointed even though I know that I could have put in more time. So what I decided is that I either need to put in the necessary time to succeed, or be okay with getting a "B" instead of an "A".

"At one point in your life you either have the thing you want or the reasons why you don’t"

What a simple way to express such a profound thought. See now why I like quotes?

Well I hope that your week is going great! Mine is looking up since my new computer arrived today, hello world I am back!

Mother for an hour or maybe mother of the hour...you choose

Today I got to babysit my adorable little cousin. She is two months old and as cute as can be! My aunt had to go to a piano recital at my university and babies were strictly prohibited. (Who has the nerve to ban babies, I mean really?) Anyway, so during the concert I got to take baby Isobel around campus, and let me tell you it was weird becaue everyone thought she was mine. I do not feel old enough that people should even be allowed to think I have a baby, not to mention the fact that I am missing an important part...a HUSBAND! This girl who was in one of my classes last winter semester came up to me and was like "Congratulations! I didn't know you had a baby that is so exciting!". Ok let's talk about this for a minute, last year I was not married, not engaged, and not even dating anyone. That would have meant that I would have met someone, got engaged, got married, and got pregnant all within two weeks of the semester ending.... I mean even for Provo that would be fast. Well whatever, let people think what they want, I enjoyed every blessed second of holding that baby!

Insincerely Yours,
Heidi Jane
P.s. Sorry for the lack of pictures this week, since my computer died I have been using the libraries computer and it is just not worth the hassle to try and download pictures to it, sorry!

What a day

Well my computer died today. No I am not talking like it needs a new battery or it has some issues...No I mean like it died in the sense that it will no longer start and......it fried my hardrive. Yep that's right, all my pictures and documents are gone like the wind. (Learn from my mistake and back up your hardrive!!!) It has been a rough day to say the least. So on days like today when nothing goes right I like to think of things that didn't go wrong. It may sound silly but it helps me.

What didn't go wrong...
1. I did not get hit by lightning
2. I did not get in a car crash
3. I did not get dumped by a boy
4. I did not get the swine flu
5. I did not fall upstairs...again
5. I did not get yelled at
6. I did not forget to put pants on
7. I did not forget to brush my teeth
8. I did not get locked out of my apartment
9. I did not fail any tests
10. I did not get become allergic to chocolate!

So while today may have been a bad day...it sure could have been worse.

Insincerely Yours,
Heidi Jane

P.S. For some random reason I love looking up quotes...so here are some that I felt were appropriate for my day
"It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others." (Author Unknown)
"Life is like an onion; you peel off one layer at a time and sometimes you weep." (Carl Sandberg)
"No matter how bad things get, you got to go on living, even if it kills you." (Sholom Aleichem)

It Couldn't be...or Could it...

So today I was on the phone with this girl who was trying to spell her last name for me. For some reason I could not understand any of the letters she was saying and so finally she just exasperatedly said “DEMPSEY…as in my Uncle Patrick!!!!”. I quickly finished the phone call and just sat in awe…..is it possible? No, it couldn’t be….maybe I misunderstood…..but you know what ?I am going to pretend that I heard right because this is possibly the biggest claim to fame I will ever have!

And let's be real...he has quite possibly the most beautiful hair in the world!

Insincere Apologies: A Weekly Tradition

I Insincerely Apologize for…

n  Fake laughing every time a picture is taken ….I really think it helps make the smile better….everyone else disagrees = )

n  Not wanting to talk in the morning…if I can make it to my first class without having to say one single word then I will consider it a fabulous morning!

n  Giving my honest opinion when you ask me if I like your outfit….If you ask then I am going to tell!

n  Always…and I do mean always…loosing my phone 10 times a day (not even an exaggeration!)

Well I hope that you all had awesome weekends. I spent most of Friday and Saturday in the Library, but today I had a family party with about 50 of my relatives. SO FUN! Feel free to post your own insicere apologies...they are fun to write and even more fun to read!

My Diet Starts Tommorow: Restaurant Review

Café Paesan

I was invited by a friend to visit this café last week, and I must say I was really impressed. They have this type of meat called apple braised pork….and it is really very AMAZING. I don’t really know how to describe it because it has this burnt flavor but not in a bad way. Well you know what if you are interested you will just need to visit there yourself!

That's right...I am so classy that I got the apple braised pork pizza.

Another must eat at if you visit the Provo area!
